World’s Most Mysterious Islands
When something is out of the ordinary and unusual for us we feel fear. When we see places that are completely the opposite of what we are used to it’s a bit frightening. There are places in the world that people are not familiar with, and are really interesting to see, like these strange islands that actually exist:
Hashima Island, Japan
Once called Gunkanjima, which means Battleship Island, was once most populated place on Earth, with that being covered with buildings. With the years people abandoned the Island that once was home to a major coal mining operation. You’ve probably seen the island on the movie James Bond “Skyfall”.
The weird island that surprised even the scientists, is home to more than 50 different plant species and lots of varieties of seabirds.
La Isla De Las Munecas, Mexico
Or Island of the Dols is located hidden well in the borough of Xochimilko, where there are thousands of canals and artificial islands that were used for farming. The most famous of all islands belonged to the man called Santana, who was hanging the dolls on the trees after a tragic accident he was witnessing, where three girls died. Residents of the island trade dolls for vegetables at Santana’s, and he continuously was hanging the dolls on the trees. He was found dead in 2001 on the place he saw the girls dying.
North Sentinel Island, India
This counts as one of the untouchable island where not a single person can go there. People who live there are primitives that are continuously avoiding contact from the outside world.
This island located near Lefkada is own by the family of Aristotle Onassis. He bought the island and used it for his wedding with Jackie Kennedy and was almost never visited again. Anyway, an army of man is keeping the island empty from any visitors in case some of the family decides to visit.
An Island in the Velice Lagoon, it’s been known as unpopulated although so close to Venice. Some think is haunted, some have missed feelings about its history of being a quarantine station for the refugees.
Tory Island, Ireland
The population of this small island is 130 people, from which one is elected as king. Although without any rights, he is the head and spokesman of the people.
Hart Island, New York
This part of the Bronx is the worlds largest cemetery. Here dead people were burned, lying in unmarked graves.
Or the Rabbit Island, is an island fully populated with cute rabbits that are not afraid to approach people in larger groups.
